Fruit “Galore” and Cookies for Tanja
July 5, 2007 at 11:01 am | In blahblah |hooray for Trader Joe and its vast array of beautiful fruits and vegetables! I knew of doughnut peaches, but not of doughnut nectarines, so I just had to jump on the chance to give them a try.
I haven’t had plums in forever, so I couldn’t pass on these ones either.
the coconut chocolate chips cookies [from La Dolce Vegan] have been baked, cooled down, and packed up. I’ll leave in a little bit when the day breaks in to send them out. I hope they get to San Diego by Saturday, but of course, nothing could be less sure. needless to say I’m freaking out a bit that the chocolate chips will be completely melted once they get there too, but that’s why fridges were invented: to set my mind at ease. ;p
[the only change made to the cookies was that I didn't add 3/4 cup of chocolate chips, only one 1/2 cup. it can get a bit crowded and crumbly, in my humble opinion. no no, I am not a chocolate hater! you know it.
come to think of it, I also had to throw in a bit of unsweetened soymilk because the dough just didn't want to stick together. maybe 1 T?]

you’re in Brazil, right? I don’t know how long it’d take for cookies to get to you. probably too long for them to still be somewhat edible. teleportation! who needs to be working on this and isn’t doing their job??? they need a spanking!

thank you thank you Mihl!!! I went outside to get the mail and thought I’d be the one to melt, so I doubt the cookies are gonna be in great shape when they get to their destination, but that’s ok. they’ll probably still taste ok. ;)

Your fruit looks amazing! Is the fruit at your Trader Joes already pre-packaged so you have to buy a set amount? That is how it is here, so I was just wondering if they were all the same?
I am sure your friend will appreciate and enjoy the cookies, melted or not!

I agree with Courtney that your friend will appreciate them either way. They look fantastic, Celine! :)

most of it is already pre-packaged, Courtney, although some of their organic fruit and mangoes are sold on their own. I prefer to buy my fruit piece by piece, but I can’t say I’ve been unlucky with their selection, so far.
thank you Cassie!!

How well do you find cookies ship? I’ve been wanting to send some to a friend who lives about 3 hours away, but it’s warmer there, plus I’m afraid they’ll go stale. Do you overnight them or send them any special way?
Comment by melisser — July 6, 2007 #
they usually ship out pretty well! I make sure to pack them extra carefully [lots of padding, if possible, in plastic baggies so that they stay fresh longer], send them priority, and never had problems so far. not even staleness.

hey c. is this your favorite choco chip cookie recipe? i’ve been wanting to make some, but haven’t found a really GREAT recipe so far… i have la dolce vegan, though, and i usually have excellent luck with sarah kramer desserts… i’ll have to give this one a try!
