WW Oatmeal Bread
August 1, 2007 at 5:39 pm | In recipe |for a 1 1/2 pound loaf in bread machine [although absolutely do-able without one]
1 1/4 cup pure water [room temp]
2 T softened vegan margarine
2 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
3 T light brown sugar
2 T soy milk powder
1 1/4 t sea salt
2 t bread machine yeast
place all ingredients in the order recommended by the machine manufacturer.
set on BASIC.
let cool on a rack before slicing.
BEST BREAD EVER! I grabbed both ends to make myself a mighty tasty sandwich:
sunflower spread, sweet relish, avocado, sprouts = heaven!
and since I have no pictures of any of this, have a Willow instead.

i really should add wheat gluten to a grocery list - they look so hearty!

stonie, you can find it for cheap in bulk on amazon.com. that’s the way I get mine! not to sound like an ad or anything, I just hate to pay full price for stuff.

My machine is humming to a zuchini bread recipe for my daughter’s bake sale as I type. This site is a real treasure for me.
Question:
I am new to bread machine baking and it has been years since I baked bread in an oven. Is there a way to replace the two sources of sugar with agave in this recipe. Do I just reduce the water? By how much!? Thanks, in advance!

Hey Kimberly, I always sub agave for sugar these days, so go for it. there’s no need to make additional changes as long as you check the dough after several minutes of kneading to ensure it’s not too sticky or too dry.
