Tahini Bread
Posted by Celine on December 26, 2007
I know I’ve yapped about this before, but I’m not the biggest fan of tahini, so I often find myself with jars of the stuff to finish off after only using tiny amounts of it in my favorite hummus…es. so I figured that giving a try to making my favorite bread with a twist would be a good way to “get rid” of a fair amount of it. and working out well, it most definitely did!
there’s no doubt it’d be awesome with other nut butters too and as usual, varying the quantity/sorts of flours is great to do.
for a 1 1/2 pound bread aka 12 slices
see here for instructions when you don’t have a machine!
1/2 cup tahini paste at room temp
1 cup + 2 T purified water at room temp
1 1/2 cups bread flour [spoon and level]
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour [spoon and level: first add 4 t vital wheat gluten, cover up with ww flour to make a total of 1 1/2 cups]
1 t sea salt
3 T light brown sugar
2 t bread machine yeast
throw ingredients into your bread machine following the manufacturer’s instructions. let cool on a rack.

Thank you! I am not a tahini fan either, and this sounds like a palatable way to use up the jar I have had in my fridge for quite some time…I can’t wait to try it! Yay!

it’s so soooooft and yummy. and you can barely taste the tahini in it. but the peanut butter one’s still my favorite.
