Invasion of the Gooey Rolls

January 29, 2008 at 3:38 pm | In blahblah |

it all started because I always buy too many bananas and prefer them on the ripe side, but then I eat enough other stuff and don’t feel like snacking on bananas, so I have to use them up whichever possible way. we’ve all been there, right?
I decided to make rolls since I had the time, the means, and the need to keep myself occupied.

behold:

Banana Coconut Rolls

I just had one and if I could eat only one thing until the day I die? that might be it. the banana flavor is really subtle and that’s a good thing because I’m not the biggest banana-in-things fan. I know, why did I make banana rolls then? don’t ask…
I put some powdered coconut in the dough, the filling is made of coconut and pecans, and the glaze is made with coconut milk. maybe I should have called them coconut rolls then, eh?
I’ll type the recipe as soon as my brain manages to take a breather.

now for the lemon rolls pictured below?

Lemon Rolls with Rosewater Filling

well, my flickr friend Theresa asked about a lemon cinnamon roll recipe which she couldn’t find, so I figured I might as well come up with my own since I had one lemon to finish off before leaving here anyway…
the filling is rosewater-flavored, and I decided to cover the rolls with a lemon syrup-thing.
recipe also coming up soon, I promise. for now it’s back to running like a headless seitan sausage.

  2. Yay! Those rolls look like they’ll be just the thing to brighten up these gray Philly days.
The rosewater - lemon combo in particular make me think of spring days to come, but I have to say I am a banana and coconut fan.
