When did my freezer ever get so full?

March 24, 2008 at 3:06 pm | In Uncategorized |

I guess I’ve been having too much fun baking/cooking while mom was here, I seriously don’t need to be in the kitchen for at least another month.
in the meantime, I’ve decided to try and do some meal planning over here, but I’ll put it all under a cut so that you don’t have to endure if it’s not your cuppa.

under the cut, there’s my favorite cheezy sauce recipe, from VegWeb. I wanted to make the one from YRR but I didn’t have all the ingredients, figures.

a plate of Vegan Planet chocolate chip cookies, to tide you over.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

we rarely get the opportunity to eat at the same time, and when we do enjoy the same meal, it usually isn’t on the same day. oy vey! anyway, that’s the reason why I separate his/her meals the way you see down here. you can obviously tell whose meal I’m talking about with the little fe/male signs above the menus. I’m ever so ingenious, ahem.
I’m not typing up every single meal for myself, as I often eat the same thing for breakfast or simply don’t need to remember to thaw out what I need on that day.

enough for now! turns out to be a bigger drag than previously assumed…

* VegWeb’s Cheezy Sauce

1/4 c flour
1/4 c nooch
1/2 t sea salt
1/2 t garlic powder
1 cup pure water
1/2 t yellow mustard
2 T margarine

In medium-large saucepan, combine flour, nutritional yeast, salt and garlic powder. Add water and mix thoroughly. Heat on medium heat until bubbling and thick. Remove from heat and add mustard and margarine. Set aside 1/2 cup of cheese sauce in separate container.

  1. Meal planning… Hahaha. I commend you for that! And I would love to see how your almond waffle recipe turns out! I’ve never adapted one from a pancake recipe before - I don’t take chances with waffles anymore because it sucks when disaster strikes and you have to pick pieces out of the iron plates.

Is the Veg Web Cheezy Sauce better than the one in V-con? I’m assuming it is, if it’s your favorite!

  2. My freezer is also very full now! Too much free time over the holidays, ha!
Wow, I totally suck at meal planning. You are so organized that you need to open a restaurant. Quick!
I tried the kahlua rolls. The were amazing. And I never realized that real Kahlua is from California and 13 € a bottle! But totally worth it. White Russian here I come.

  3. How funny that the meals work out that way! I hope you were able to eat cookies together though! hehe.

  4. ruby: the waffle adaptation really came out well! crispy, perfectly tasty: next time I will still add even less liquid than I did this time. but yeah, definitely recommended. I want to try the raspberry/cornmeal ones soon, I love me some cornmeal waffles.
also, I used to have really bad luck when I had one of those cheap waffle irons, and since I upgraded it’s always been good. I think the iron was seventy bucks or so, but when you think of the number of times it’s necessary to buy cheap-ass irons for them to work well, it’s kinda worth it.

I love the cheezy sauce from V-con, but the one from Vegweb is the one I’ve used ever since going vegan and I must admit I haven’t found something quite as good yet. sorry, V-con.

mihl: if I ever did open a restaurant [which is so not likely to happen], I’d want to do it in partnership with amazingly talented people like yourself. so, ha.
I’m glad you liked the rolls! I saw your pics and they’re perfect. :D

melisser: not even the cookies! I tell you, we’re cursed.

  6. I’m a meal planner as well. I never right it down, but whenever I’m bored I find myself planning main courses for the next few days. The problem is that I forget most of the recipes I want to cook and only remember the delicious ones that I’ve done before. I’m not a vegan myself, so what in the world is nooch?

  10. Yum, I love that VegWeb cheeze sauce, and everything else you’ve got planned sounds similarly awesome. You’re a cooking queen, which is like a dancing queen, except that it involves a spatula…!
