I ate the card and put the cookies on the fridge door.

May 13, 2008 at 7:59 am | In blahblah |

the happy for today: a card from Bazu!
and on the side, the infamous VWAV crispy peanut butter cookies that I made using sock_buttons‘ trick of adding 2 T each of molasses and whiskey to the wet ingredients. it’s coarse sea salt you can see on the top, by the way.
(I also used less (Turbinado) sugar and whole wheat pastry flour, but that’s beside the point!)

miss B, upon hearing about my quest for healthier eating & drinking
also sent a myriad of goodies, including maple sugar, date sugar, lavender, detox teas, etc…
let’s not forget her world-famous sourdough starter! and even a charming piece of origami I’m assuming she made herself. can you even…?

it’s good to know that even from afar, friends are watching my back. thank you, Bazu!

totally unrelated, but for breakfast today: I had some carob hummus. yes, carob hummus. and it was delicious! who knew?
if anyone wants to give it a try, I’ll hook you up with the recipe.

  7. Aw, I’m glad you liked everything! You are so talented in the kitchen, I’m sure you’ll put all those ingredients to far more interesting use than me. Oh and I did make the crane-origami cranes are pretty much the only thing I know how to make!

Oooh, I bet that salt (not to mention the whiskey and molasses) highlight the PB so well. Yum.

  9. I think I want the carob hummus recipe? I mean, carob = yum and hummus = really yum, and if you like it, I’m guessing it’s pretty cool. That’s an adorable card, btw :) I never saw that pun before.

  13. I just happened upon your website trolling for vegan recipes, and I just have to say, I LOVE your portion “yield” sizes. “Makes 2 gigantic cookies” was my favorite - no one easts teaspoon-sized cookies, let’s be realistic!!

  15. Hook a sister up with that carob hummus recipe. I’ve got more carob here than I know what to do with. :)

  16. Those cookies sound outstanding I’d love to try them, I’ll have to check that book out. I’m not as much of a fan as crunchy cookies as chewy ones, but if it has peanut butter in it and whole wheat pastry flour now, I could see gobbling down half a dozen for lunch!

I would love for you to hook me up with that carob hummus recipe. I’ve had a bean dip of sorts in mind for a while and this would be a great leap forward! I’ll naturally return the favor once I perfect my dip!
