Sugar Vacation

I need to do it. I can’t stand the thought of sugar at this point, especially because of this:

The Oreo Cookie Cookies I had baked for the LA sale flatlined on me, the suckers, so I figured that making cake would be a great idea. Wrong.

Speaking of the LA bake sale and vacation, it was a whirlwind of great food, amazing people, and fun.

I was lucky to stay at the event organizer’s herself, Miss Afsoon

who made some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had the pleasure to sink my teeth into…

Lemon Rosemary cupcakes. Words are very unnecessary, right?

Another amazing Buffy fan/lady I had the pleasure to meet there was Ashley, who acted like a vampire by staying up pretty much all night to make Pumpkin, Peanut Butter, as well as regular cinnamon rolls.

I don’t think I need to mention how quickly these babies flew off the table.

Among the other awesome participants/goods providers were: Kim/C’est La Vegan, Hugger Food, Rachel, Brittany, Jennifer, Joni, Michael and Natalie.
If I forgot anyone, feel free to send bad karma. Or sugar.

I also finally got to meet Wannabe a Vegan and her lovely pup, Violet…

who suffered from the hot, hot heat like the rest of us.

To sum it up and cut this one short before you get too eager to slap me, let’s just say I am already looking forward to next year (and sooner) for more of the same.

And remember Einstein’s crazy hair is always right:

I’m going on a sugar vacation, as well. actually, started it last Monday after my spelt chocolate chip walnut cookies made my tummy hurt. it’s so wrong, but so right. good luck to you! and lemon rosemary cupcakes. really? why must you taunt me?

I’ve tried a sugar vacation at least three times in the past year. My problem is that I really like my coffee sweetened, and there’s no way I could give up coffee. Also am addicted to chocolate, ice cream, and cake. But who’s counting?

    Good luck, Celine!

thank you! I’m lucky, I like my drinks unsweetened. but I’m with you on chocolate, ice cream, cake…cookies. cats.

Oh my, it looks like one piece of this cake must fulfill the recommended *monthly* intake in sugar!
You apparently had everything in place to make that vegan bake sale a huge success! I’m glad you had a great time.
Those lemon rosemary cupcakes? Sounds like the best thing ever! I must try something like this, now that I have a new rosemary plant (replacing the one from last summer that I killed a few months ago… Black thumb, me? Hm, yeah, totally!)

    Celine Reply:

believe it or not, it actually isn’t that bad. made with whole-wheat flour, applesauce, and so on. you can’t tell by looking at it, I know.
I covet your rosemary plant. and we are sisters in black thumbitude.

Yeah, I should have thought you have the magical power of making purely decadent cakes that aren’t bad for us at all!

I shouldn’t even be on the computer, but dude! I feel so loved :) I bless everyone with sugar comas because I still have one! oof. And seriously, that chocolate “oreo” cake was one THE best cakes I’ve ever tasted. No ass kissing in that, my dear. I let our Fresno friends try it and they LOVED it. I snatched the rest of the cake and devoured it myself. Selfish, yesh?

I could use a vacation. I have a feeling my skin issues have a little something to do with my rotten summer eating habits… those popsicles and scones-with-tea will getcha.

Although, those cinnamon rolls make me well up a little bit with renewed faith in humanity.
