I just received an advance copy of the sandwich book, and amazon says it will be in stock on Saturday.
By gum, it’s almost vegan sandwich o’clock.

While I’ve given up on my own Facebook privileges because I’m comfortable being 80% dinosaur, I’m told a fancy Facebook page was created for the book, and it will be mostly wo-manned by Tami herself.
But it doesn’t mean I won’t be available if you want to chat about it: I’m always happy to read from you and will send a prompt response to your sandwich-related (or other) questions and feedback, via email or comments here.

What you don’t see is that it threatened to fall apart every time my finger hovered over the shutter button. Clearly, the Dagwood had a bone to pick with me. I took my revenge by eating it with extra gusto once the job was done.)


You’re in for a treat if you love Animal Place as much as I do! Their second annual Music in the Meadow is coming up soon, on September 22, 2012 from 11am to 5pm at Animal Place, 17314 McCourtney Road, in Grass Valley, CA 95949.

Here’s a little snippet taken from their about page, in case you’ve never heard of the sanctuary before:
“Founded in 1989, Animal Place is one of the oldest and largest sanctuaries for neglected and abused farmed animals. We nurture compassion through tours and workshops, promoting a plant-based vegan lifestyle. Located on 600-acres is our primary refuge, home to more than 200 permanent residents in Grass Valley, CA. Additionally, we operate a 60-acre adoption center called Rescue Ranch in Vacaville, CA that takes in thousands of farmed animals annually and re-homes them.”

You will spend the day listening to live music in a dreamy meadow, get to eat delicious vegan food, and if that wasn’t reason enough to make the trip, you’ll also spend time with the stars of the sanctuary themselves: the animals! Including Ruby!
Tickets are only $25 for adults, and $12 for children 12 and under.

I was and still am honored to be one of two case studies in Andrew S. Gibson‘s ebook called Up Close, which is a guide to macro & up close photography. It’s beautifully illustrated with photos by Andrew himself, as well as those of Mandy Disher‘s.

    Wow, WOW! I can’t wait to get my hands on this book. The Dagwood’s Special Sandwich looks delicious but the Fruit Stuffed French Toast Brioche is totally ridiculous!

      Ridiculous in a good way, I hope. (I’ve upset HRM the brioche before and trust me, it gets dangerous quickly.)

    Félicitations ! (Je me permets d’écrire en français come je sais que tu le parles parfaitement – c’est ta langue maternelle, en fait, non ?)
    On se demandait justement avec mon copain quel était notre plat préféré, et je crois que moi c’est le sandwich. Ça fait nul dit comme ça, mais avec du bon pain, une bonne sauce et des bons trucs dedans, c’est le meilleur truc du monde, le sandwich. Avec des bonnes chips Tyrrell’s en plus et c’est parfait.
