I’m clearly a little too focused on produce shots lately. My bad. And double apologies if you follow my account on IG as you might have seen a few of these before.
1, 2, 3 and 4: from the market a few weekends ago. The organic plums and pluots were a bit wrinkled and in need of a good scrubbing, but I find they often are tastiest that way. Life lesson alert.
It was my first time handling squash blossoms. Verdict is in: they’re not just a pretty face. So to speak. Chaz isn’t a fan, but then again he doesn’t like zucchini either. I love them even though they can be somewhat fussy to clean.
The apples were also absolutely fantastic. I used them in a miso caramel galette that was topped with vegan (of course) vanilla ice cream and gobbled up way too quickly. Liz told me about porcini caramel, and it’ll happen soon.
5 and 6: from the market a couple of weeks back. See the purple spots on the yellow pluots? It’s like someone used a pen to mark these.
Also, pickles. All of the pickles. Asian pears, hot peppers and onions (my current favorite combo to pile on top of sourdough bread slices and Tofurky slices sandwiches), and of course pickling cucumbers.
Only about two weeks left of testing for the cookbook. I haven’t slept much since it started, but it’s been fun overall. I’ll post sneak peek pictures and a recipe in the coming weeks, as soon as I manage to catch my breath. And anyone to whom I owe a long overdue email (you know who you are), I promise I’ll get to it soon. I also have a couple of book reviews coming up. Hooray! Have a great weekend.
