I’m usually fonder of jams/preserves that contain less sugar than Bonne Maman does, or even none at all. Not that I think sugar is evil incarnate (you know me), but because the fruit flavor comes out so much more strongly when it isn’t competing with other stuff.
Yet I cave in on occasion and buy a jar or two, mostly because I find the overall design to be so dang lovely. A very superficial reason if I ever came up with one. To be fair, it’s the jam I grew up on, so nostalgia also comes into play. Does this make me sound just a tad less superficial? Please say yes.

Good thing the jar itself is reusable as a salt, spice, bolts and nuts, or maybe even as a spare change container. No waste = in good taste. Which sounds exactly like something Martha Stewart would say.
As it turns out, their cherry preserves aren’t my favorite kind (I find them to have too little flavor, Chaz doesn’t: more cherry preserves for him), but their mixed berries preserves are seriously great. My MO of late: a big spoonful of these preserves spread on top of super crunchy natural peanut butter and hardcore pumpernickel bread.

Now that I’ve updated you on my fascinating breakfast habits: we’re having ourselves a little Whole Grain Vegan Baking blog tour coming up real soon on some of our favorite sites. There will be giveaways, sample recipes, and all-around good fun. I hope you’ll join us!
